IPL works gradually and over multiple sessions, and results vary from person to person; it fades the appearance of pigment rather than guaranteeing permanent removal, and spots can return with sun exposure, so daily sunscreen is essential to protect and maintain results. One important caution: if your pigmentation is melasma, be careful — melasma can actually worsen with light and heat, so please consult a dermatologist before using any IPL device on it. When in doubt about what your spots are, get a professional opinion first.

Important Safety Information

• Always wear the built-in eye protection. Never look directly at the flash or use it near the eye area.
• Skin tone matters. IPL is generally not suitable for very deep skin tones, as it targets pigment and can cause burns or discoloration on darker skin. Use the built-in skin-tone sensor and start at the lowest level.
• Do not use over moles, tattoos, broken, irritated or sunburned skin, or areas with active infection.
• Patch test first and start with the lowest intensity, increasing only as tolerated.
• Avoid if pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have a light-sensitive condition or take photosensitizing medication, unless cleared by a doctor.

How to Use the MELASHOT

1. Cleanse and dry your skin, applying nothing beforehand.
2. Put on the built-in protective goggles.
3. Power on and hold the device to your skin for about 2 seconds to let the sensor recognize your skin tone.
4. Select a level from 1 to 5 to suit your skin, starting low.
5. Place the probe fully against the target spot and press the shot button.
6. After your session, follow with calming skincare and, in the daytime, always apply sunscreen. Use as directed in the manual, not more often than recommended.
