85% artemisia, and not much else. Isntree's Mugwort Calming Ampoule is built for skin in the middle of a reaction — redness, stinging, that hot tight feeling after too much sun or too strong an active. Ganghwa artemisia capillaris is extracted using the brand's Time-Drop method to preserve the plant's calming compounds.

Why Ganghwa mugwort

Ganghwa County is the region Korean brands return to for mugwort, the way Jeju is for green tea. The extract here makes up 85% of the formula, so this reads as a treatment rather than a lightly scented serum.

The Time-Drop extraction

Heat destroys many of the compounds that make mugwort useful. Isntree's Time-Drop method draws the extract out slowly at low temperature, which preserves the calming actives that faster, hotter processing would break down. It is the reason this ampoule works on active irritation rather than just feeling pleasant.

Tested and certified

Dermatologically tested for skin irritation and certified hypoallergenic. Also tested for microbial and heavy metal contamination — free of three heavy metals and five microbes.

Who it's for

Sensitive, easily-flushed skin; barrier recovery after over-exfoliation; anyone whose skin reacts to fragrance and long ingredient lists. See more in Redness & Irritated Skin.

How to use

After toner, apply two to three drops to damp skin and press in with your palms. Morning and evening. On a bad flare-up, layer twice, waiting thirty seconds between. Follow with moisturizer, and sunscreen in the morning.

Using it during a flare-up

When skin is genuinely angry, strip your routine back to cleanser, this ampoule and a plain moisturizer. No actives, no exfoliants, no fragranced products. Layer the ampoule two or three times in place of your usual treatment steps, and give it four or five days before reintroducing anything else — one product at a time.

FAQ

Ampoule or serum — what is the difference?
Ampoules are typically more concentrated and come in smaller bottles. In practice, treat this as your main treatment step.

Can I use it with retinal or acids?
Yes, and it works well as a buffer layer underneath them. Apply the ampoule first, let it absorb, then your active.

Will it help with acne?
Indirectly. It calms the redness and irritation around breakouts but is not an acne treatment. Pair with a BHA if congestion is the issue.

How long until I see a difference?
Calming effects are often immediate. For lasting change in reactivity, give it six to eight weeks.
