Benton Honest Lip Balm — The Tube Solves a Problem You Stopped Noticing
A pot of lip balm gets opened by fingers that have been on a train, a keyboard and a door handle, and then goes back in your bag to wait for tomorrow. Nobody thinks about it. It is still true.
The Benton Honest Lip Balm is 10ml in a minimized tube, which exists for exactly that reason: nothing from your fingers reaches the balm, so there is far less chance of cross-contamination.
What's In It
Seven vegetable oils: sunflower seed, argan, camellia seed, green tea seed, olive, macadamia and jojoba (simmondsia chinensis) seed oil.
Formulated without petrolatum, PEGs, mineral oil, artificial colouring or synthetic perfume — the Honest Line's premise is that you should be able to read the label and be reassured by it.
What It's For
Peeling, irritation and dryness — the three things that make lips a daily problem rather than an occasional one. It is all-day care rather than a quick gloss.
Compare it against the rest of Korean Lip Care, and browse the range in the Benton collection. If the rest of your skin runs dry or reacts easily, see Dry & Dehydrated Skin and Sensitive Skin — lips are usually the first place both show up.
Chapped lips are a barrier problem, the same as anywhere else on your face: the layer that holds water in has stopped doing it, so no amount of balm sticks. Damaged Skin Barrier and our guide to repairing a damaged skin barrier apply here too.
How to Use It
- Apply whenever your lips need it, through the day.
- Use a generous layer at night — that is when repair happens and nothing rubs it off.
- Do not lick your lips first. Saliva evaporates and takes moisture with it, which is why licking makes chapping worse.
- Reapply after eating or drinking.
One more thing people forget: lips burn. If you are outdoors, sunscreen belongs on the rest of your face too — see Korean Sunscreen and our 2026 SPF guide.
Questions
Why a tube rather than a pot?
Hygiene. Your fingers never touch the product, so there is much less chance of introducing germs to something you then put on your mouth.
What is in it?

Is it tinted?
No. It is clear care, not colour.
Why do my lips get worse the more balm I use?
Usually it is licking rather than the balm. Saliva evaporates and takes moisture with it. Apply to dry lips and stop licking them.

What is the Honest Line?
Benton's Honest Line is built on the premise that you should be able to read the ingredients and be reassured by them. That is the whole pitch, and it is a fair one in a category that usually hopes you will not look.
