VT PDRN Grinding Cleansing Balm — The Jar Problem, Solved

Cleansing balms have one design flaw everybody tolerates: the jar. You dig in with fingers that have been touching your face all day, or you find the little spatula, or you gave up on the spatula in week two. Either way, you are putting the day back into the product every single time.

The VT PDRN Grinding Cleansing Balm gets rid of the jar. You twist the base and the grinding dispenser delivers the balm out of the top — the right amount, no fingers, no spatula, nothing reintroduced to the tub. It sounds like a small thing until you have used one.

What It Removes

This is a first cleanse, and it is built for the things water and foam cannot shift: makeup, waterproof sunscreen, excess sebum and the general film a day leaves behind.

Sunscreen is the one worth dwelling on. Modern SPF is engineered to survive sweat and water — that is the entire point of it — which means it also survives your cleanser. If you wear sunscreen daily and skip the oil-based first step, you are not removing it. That is a common and quietly consequential mistake.

The formula uses PDRN-inspired skincare technology alongside nourishing ingredients, so the cleanse works with your skin's moisture balance rather than against it.

Balm, Oil, Milk, Gone

The texture changes three times on your face, and each stage has a job. It goes on as a silky balm on dry skin. It melts into a cleansing oil that dissolves makeup and SPF. Add water and it emulsifies into a lightweight milk that rinses away without a greasy film.

That third stage is what separates a good balm from one that leaves your face feeling coated. Skin should feel clean and comfortable afterwards — not tight, not slick.

What It's Good For

  • Waterproof sunscreen — the thing most cleansers quietly leave on
  • Long-wear foundation and everything else that claims to last all day
  • Excess sebum and daily environmental buildup
  • Dry and dehydrated skin that a stripping cleanser leaves tight
  • Travel — 50ml, and nothing can leak out of a grinding tube

Who It's For

Anyone who wears sunscreen or makeup daily and wants a first cleanse that rinses fully clean. The nourishing formula makes it a strong fit for dry or dehydrated skin, and the comfortable finish suits sensitive skin too.

It is the first half of a double cleanse, not the whole thing. Follow with a water-based wash from Korean Cleansers. The rest of the VT range sits in VT Cosmetics, and for more on the ingredient technology, see PDRN Skincare.

Where It Sits in the Routine

First. Before everything. A balm on a wet face does not work, and a serum on an unclean face is wasted — which is the real argument for double cleansing: not that your skin needs two washes, but that everything after step one only performs on skin that is actually clean.

After it: a water-based cleanser, then a Korean Toner, then a Korean Serum, then a Korean Moisturizer. In the morning, finish with Korean Sunscreen — which you will then remove with this balm tonight, and so it goes. Our 2026 SPF guide covers picks with no white cast.

If glow is the goal, see Glass Skin & Glow and how to get glass skin fast — a proper first cleanse is the least glamorous part of it and the one that makes the rest work. Also useful: Hydration Boost and why your Korean skincare routine isn't working.

How to Use
1. Use on dry hands and a dry face — water at this stage stops the balm working.
2. Twist the base of the tube to dispense an appropriate amount.
3. Massage gently over the face in circular motions to dissolve makeup and sunscreen.
4. Add a little lukewarm water and keep massaging until the balm turns into a milky emulsion.
5. Rinse thoroughly.
6. Follow with a water-based cleanser, then toner, serum and moisturizer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the VT PDRN Grinding Cleansing Balm?

It is a 50ml oil-based first cleanse that dissolves makeup, waterproof sunscreen and daily buildup. Its grinding dispenser delivers the balm from the top of the tube, so nothing is scooped out with your fingers.

What is a grinding dispenser and why does it matter?

You twist the base and the balm comes out of the top in a measured amount. With a jar, you dig in with fingers that have been on your face all day, putting the day back into the product every time. The dispenser removes that entirely, and it makes the tube travel-proof.

Do I use it on wet or dry skin?

Dry hands, dry face. A balm on wet skin cannot melt into an oil and will not dissolve makeup properly. Add water only at the end, to emulsify it into a milk before rinsing.

Do I still need a second cleanser after it?

Yes. This is the first half of a double cleanse. The balm lifts off makeup, sunscreen and oil; a water-based cleanser then clears what is left. The point is not that skin needs two washes, but that everything after only works on skin that is genuinely clean.

Will it remove waterproof sunscreen?

That is what it is for. Modern SPF is built to survive sweat and water, which means it also survives a foaming cleanser. If you wear sunscreen daily and skip an oil-based first step, you are not actually taking it off.

Will it leave my face greasy?

It should not. Adding water turns the oil into a lightweight milk that rinses clean, and that emulsifying stage is what separates a good balm from one that leaves a film. Skin should feel comfortable rather than tight or slick.
