The essence that made mugwort famous outside Korea. I'm from's Mugwort Essence is made with 100% concentrated extract of top-grade mugwort from Ganghwa County — no water base, no filler. It is one of the most single-minded products in Korean skincare.
What 100% extract means
Most essences use water as the base ingredient. Here the mugwort extract itself is the base, which is why the colour is dark, the scent is herbal, and the effect on angry skin is immediate rather than gradual.
Minerals, vitamins and detox
Korean mugwort is rich in minerals and vitamins and is traditionally used for its calming and detoxifying properties. Applied undiluted, it works on redness and irritation while also improving how the skin looks day to day — less flat, more even, more comfortable.
Who it's for
Irritated, red or troubled skin; barrier recovery; anyone who wants a minimal ingredient list. See more in Redness & Irritated Skin.
How to use
After cleansing, apply to damp skin with your hands and press in. Layer two or three times on a bad day, waiting thirty seconds between. Follow with serum and moisturizer, and sunscreen in the morning.
Layering technique
This is a product that rewards the seven-skin method — several thin layers rather than one thick application. Apply, wait thirty seconds until it is no longer wet to the touch, apply again. Three layers on genuinely irritated skin, one on a normal day. Rubbing it in defeats the purpose; press it in with your palms instead.
Storage and shelf life
Because the formula is almost entirely plant extract, keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat. Some darkening over time is normal for a high-concentration botanical product. A sharp change in smell or texture is not — if that happens, stop using it.
FAQ
Why is it dark brown?
That is the mugwort extract itself. The colour is a sign of concentration, not of spoilage.
Does it smell strange?
It smells herbal and slightly earthy — that is the plant. The scent fades within a minute on skin.
Toner or essence — where does it go?
Use it after cleansing as your first hydration step, or after a toner if you use one. Either works.
Essence or Serum?
The essence is the layering step for daily calming. The serum is more concentrated and targeted. Start with the essence.
