SKINFOOD Asparagus Glutathione Spicule Serum coats glutathione onto micro-spicules — a delivery system that carries the brightener deeper than a standard serum, backed by vitamin C and asparagus extract.
What spicules are
Microscopic needle-like particles, traditionally derived from freshwater sponges, that create micro-channels as you massage the serum in. The point is delivery: actives coated onto spicules reach where surface-applied ones don’t.
Uniform spicules, coated glutathione
This formula uses highly purified spicules of uniform shape — the detail that matters, because irregular spicules are what make cheap versions feel harsh. The glutathione rides in on the spicule itself.
Vitamin C and asparagus
Vitamin C doubles down on brightening and supports the look of elasticity; antioxidant-rich asparagus extract is SKINFOOD’s signature food-ingredient touch. Skin irritation testing is completed.
Expect the tingle
Honest framing: spicule products tingle or prickle for a while after application — that’s the format working, not an allergic reaction. It typically settles within hours and fades with repeated use. This is not the product to start a sensitive-skin journey with.
Night product, sunscreen mornings
Use it in the evening, keep the routine around it gentle, and be diligent with SPF — freshly stimulated skin deserves protection.
How to use
In the evening after toner, apply to face avoiding the eye and lip areas, and massage gently until absorbed. A mild prickling is normal. Skip acids and retinoids that night, follow with moisturizer, and wear sunscreen the next morning. Start with two to three nights a week.
Frequently asked questions
Is the prickling sensation safe?
It’s the expected feel of spicules creating micro-channels. If you get lasting redness or stinging well beyond the first hours, scale back frequency.
Can sensitive skin use it?
Cautiously at most — patch test first and start once a week. Reactive skin may be happier with the spicule-free ampoule.
Can I combine it with retinol or acids?
Not on the same night — alternate. Stacking stimulation is how barriers get damaged.
How often should I use it?
Two to three nights a week is plenty; nightly use suits only resilient skin.
When will I see results?
An early glow within weeks; meaningful tone and firmness change over eight to twelve weeks with sunscreen.
Pairs well with
On off nights, use the Vita Ampoule. Browse vitamin C, anti-aging and brightening picks.
