mixsoon Bean Cleansing Oil 195ml — a Korean cleansing oil for sunscreen and makeup
The first step of the Bean routine and the first step of the day's undoing: it dissolves sunscreen, makeup and the oily grime the day leaves on your face, then rinses off with water. Eighteen ingredients, plant oils instead of harsh surfactants, and the same fermented soybean the rest of the range is built on. 195ml.
Why you need an oil cleanser if you wear sunscreen
This is the narrow, real reason to own one. A water-based cleanser alone does not fully remove sunscreen, and what is left sits on your face overnight. Sunscreen is built to survive water and sweat — that is the entire point of it — so it takes oil to lift it off. Bean Sun Serum goes on in the morning; this takes it off at night.
What is in it, in order
The first six entries are the cleansing system: ester oils, an emulsifier, and three plant oils — soybean, jojoba and sunflower. That is the product, and it is what dissolves waterproof makeup without a surfactant that strips.
The four ferments — soybean, pomegranate, barley, pear — are the last four entries of eighteen. Buy this oil for how it cleanses. If you are here for the ferments, they belong in the Bean Essence, which is seven ingredients and stays on your skin.
Specifications from the brand: vegan, no alcohol.
How to emulsify a cleansing oil — the part people get wrong
Dry hands, dry face. Two or three pumps, massaged in, focusing on the nose, chin and forehead. Then add water and keep massaging until it turns milky.
That step is not optional, and it is the one that gets skipped. An oil that is not emulsified does not rinse — it smears, and then people conclude that cleansing oil breaks them out. Rinse with lukewarm water and follow with a foam cleanser to finish the double cleanse — the Master Gentle Recipe Foam Cleanser is the second step.
195ml is a large bottle for a first step, which is the right way round: this is the product you use every single evening, and rationing your cleanser is how sunscreen stays on your face.
Is cleansing oil bad for oily skin?
No — and this is worth getting straight. An oil cleanser is not what makes oily skin oilier. Over-cleansing is. Skin scrubbed until it squeaks compensates by producing more sebum. If your skin feels tight after cleansing, that is a signal, not a success.
Which mixsoon Bean product should you buy?
The route: Cleansing Oil → Toner → Essence → Cream. You do not need all four — the essence and the cream are the pair that does the work. This one earns its place if you wear sunscreen or makeup.

Frequently asked questions
How do I emulsify a cleansing oil?
Massage it into a dry face, then add water and keep massaging until it turns milky, then rinse. Skip that and it smears instead of rinsing.
Do I need an oil cleanser if I wear sunscreen?
Yes. A water-based cleanser does not fully remove SPF, and what is left stays on your face overnight.
Is cleansing oil bad for oily skin?
No. Over-cleansing is what makes oily skin oilier — stripped skin makes more sebum to compensate.
Do I still need a second cleanser?
Yes, to finish the double cleanse — oil first, foam second.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the mixsoon Bean Cleansing Oil contain fragrance?
Yes. Fragrance (Parfum) is the seventh entry on the ingredient list, ahead of the tocopherol and the sunflower oil. The brand markets the oil as fragrance-free, and we cannot reconcile those two statements, so we do not repeat the claim. The full list is printed on the product page. For most people, fragrance in a product that spends a minute on the face and then rinses off is a non-issue. If it is an issue for you, this is not your cleansing oil.
Do I still need a second cleanser after an oil cleanser?
Yes, in the evening. The oil dissolves sunscreen, makeup and sebum; the foam cleanser takes off what the oil leaves behind, including the oil itself. That two-step order is the whole point of double cleansing. In the morning, water or a gentle foam alone is plenty. There is nothing on your face at 7am that needs an oil cleanser.
Will a cleansing oil break out oily or acne-prone skin?
Oil cleansers get blamed for a lot of breakouts that came from somewhere else. Two things usually cause it: the oil was never emulsified, so a film stayed on the face, or the routine underneath is stripping the skin and it is compensating with more sebum. Skin that squeaks after cleansing is not clean, it is stripped. If you are breaking out already, our guide on treating acne without wrecking your barrier covers the first step in detail.
Does it remove sunscreen and waterproof makeup?
That is what it is for. Sunscreen is designed to stay on skin through sweat and water, which is exactly why a water-based cleanser alone does not fully lift it. The plant oils here dissolve it instead of scrubbing at it. Give it a proper thirty to sixty seconds of massage on dry skin before you add water, especially around the nose and hairline where sunscreen collects.
Why did it leave a greasy film on my face?
Almost always the emulsifying step. After massaging the oil in on dry skin, you add a little water and keep massaging until the oil turns milky and white. That is the emulsifier grabbing the water so the whole thing can rinse. If you go straight from oil to rinsing, it smears instead of leaving. Wet hands at the start cause the same problem.
Are these the same fermented ingredients as the Bean Essence?
The same four are here: fermented soybean, pomegranate, barley and pear. They are also the last four entries of eighteen, which on an ingredient list means small amounts, in a product you rinse off after a minute. That is not a criticism of the oil, it is just what a cleanser is. If the ferments are what you want, they belong in the Bean Essence, where they are the formula rather than the footnote.
